Play with AI
If generative AI was a 90s store at the mall, it would sell studded leather belts, band tees, and emo stuffed animals.
Hot Topic, get it? (I’m laughing, you don’t have to.)
I’ve used ChatGPT three times today and probably at least ten times so far this week (it’s Wednesday). I still know some folks haven’t dabbled in it yet, some for ethical reasons, some just because they haven’t found a need. I’m not here to debate any of that.
Earlier this week, I was sharing one of my personal use cases and my friend encouraged me to share it with a wider audience because she thought it was a great idea. So here ya go!
One of my favorite ways to engage teams in a bit of playfulness at work is called Worst First. You gather your team as you normally would if you were going to have a brainstorm session. Present your problem. Instead of having everyone share all their ideas, you only share the WORST possible ideas. What would you, could you never do to solve this problem. A client hasn’t paid in three months? Well, you certainly wouldn’t plaster their name and address on a billboard - so write that down. You wouldn’t hire a PI to follow them around - so write that down. Etc etc etc.
Two outcomes are possible - one is that the team starts to identify that one part of that terrible idea, maybe combined with a shadow of another bad idea isn’t so bad after all. The other is that all the ideas are legitimately awful, but the team has released the stress and pressure of coming up with THE VERY GOOD SOLUTION and probably laughed quite a bit in the process (releasing beneficial neurochemicals that support innovation and communication - both key to problem solving).
As a solopreneur, I don’t have the luxury of pulling my team together for any type of brainstorming, Worst First or traditional. So, I use ChatGPT. Here’s the best part, you don’t even have to craft a clever prompt. Just ask it the question.
So much cringe here. Neurodiverse NATTER? What even is natter? So, the list is not immediately helpful, but I don’t know about you but I cackled out loud at a few of these. And if I take a few of them and recombine the elements, we could have a pretty good title. Also, I learned a new word!
So if you haven’t tried ChatGPT yet, or are stuck in a rut about ways to use it, give this a shot! Simple, playful way to interact with the tool! Go play!
Like that Worst First idea but would rather have someone come in to facilitate it for you? And bring some other playful ideas to boost your team’s communication, creativity, and even productivity? Let’s chat!
