Motivation That Doesn’t Suck

I love a color-coded calendar - you do too, right, right????

Structure can be a lifesaver when you work from home, but it’s not always enough. Motivation is slippery. Some days you're a focused productivity machine, other days... your plants and that dusty corner of your office you suddenly noticed … get a lot of attention.

Here’s what actually helps (and feels human):

Puzzle Break

Grab a brain teaser—Wordle, crosswords, even matching socks. Set a 5-minute timer and go. My favorite puzzle is Mondrian Blocks.

Why it works: It shifts your brain into problem-solving mode and builds momentum and success, without the pressure.

Mini Parade
March around your space like you just won Employee of the Month. Add a high-knee bounce. Try this one even in a bad mood; you don’t have to be smiling to do this.

Why it works: It gets your blood flowing and your brain laughing (even if you’re not!)

Opposite Day Doodle
Draw your current mood... as the opposite. (Stressed? Doodle a zen potato.)
Why it works: This little twist shifts perspective, helps name emotions, and brings a touch of humor into the mix.

Want 47 more ways to reset, refocus, and feel like a human again while working from home? Grab the Playful Breaks Deck - bite-sized prompts to shift your mindset and shake off the slump. Your brain (and your inbox) will thank you.
