What Do Government Workers, Flow, and a Swatch watch Have in Common?
It’s been over a month since I’ve sent a BoredLess email newsletter! We have been just motoring out here in Colorado. Lots of great travel, time with friends and family, and some exciting speaking and facilitating gigs. I got to serve a group of government employees the day before the government shutdown. It was a true joy leading them through a morning of learning and play. I’ve also spoken with an internal tech team about how to understand their Personal Play Identity and use playfulness to improve work flow, culture, and trust. I led a group of powerhouse female entrepreneurs through a workshop on how to thrive through uncertainty. I was featured in a virtual Reflect event and got to chat with some folks live about the talk I gave back in January about Flow and Play. I spoke at the Rocky Mountain Total Rewards Association conference and received great feedback. At the end of this email, I’ll share some personal fun as well!
Next month, I get to share how play can support resilience with a group of entrepreneurs AND how failure can build leadership skills at a DECA district conference. I’m already starting to book out for 2026 as well (February at the Art & Science of Health Promotion in Colorado Springs, March in Pennsylvania, podcasts, and more!)
I’ve also been just STOCKPILING articles and books to talk to you all about.
TWO, YES TWO, new scientific studies about Playful Work Design.
One about understanding the social benefits for playful employees and another about work design and performance.
I’m about half-way through Bree Groff’s “Today was Fun” and I have a loooooot of thoughts about it already.
As soon as I finish that, I’m on to Brene Brown’s “Strong Ground”, in which there’s a huge section about “locking in” and FLOW! The QUEEN speaking my language (even though I actually disagree with her on a few points!)
