Play and Flow

Have you ever tried to force your way into focus—only to end up stuck, stressed, and spinning your wheels?

That’s because flow can’t be forced. But it can be cultivated.

In my recent Grow Retreat keynote, I broke down how to intentionally move through the four stages of the flow cycle to unlock creativity, focus, and peak performance.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what I shared:
🌱 Struggle: This is where you gather information, prepare, and push through the hard stuff. It’s challenging—but it sets the stage for flow.
🎯 Release: Play a little. Engage in a low-stakes activity that relaxes your brain and helps you shift gears.
💡 Flow: That “in the zone” state where ideas and solutions come naturally.
🛌 Recovery: This stage feels awful so rest is essential to recharge your brain and play will boost those feel-good neurochemicals and get you out of the funk!

Learning to navigate these stages can transform how you work, create, and solve problems.
